IJE Art Exhibition 2.0
The theme of the second annual Ije Arts Movement Expo was “Culture” and invited exceptional artists from all over Nigeria to interpret the theme through the creative agency of art. This inclusivity was also extended to artists from other genres including craft, performance and digital arts. The striking and colourful display included artworks made of non-contemporary materials like recycled waste, discarded drink cans, wire mesh, plastic, beads, rhinestones and scrap metal.
Attendance was high, attracting officials from the Ministries of Environment, Education, and Arts & Culture. Side attractions included the quick self portrait & face painting stand, the food stand, the dance-with-art space, the crafts stand and the IJE merchandise stand. Also on display was a papermarché model of Awka city built by the IJE artists, detailing the city’s past, present and potential future.
