The Problem

Here’s where you describe the problem you want to solve—just the problem, not your solution (yet). Explain why it matters, and who or what it affects. We’re not looking for big national problems; simply look around where you live, study or work. We want to see how well you observe and make sense of what’s happening around you, no matter how big or small.

Make this short! You’ll have a chance to say more in the following sections.
This field is required.
Be specific about the location—city, village, state, local government area.
This field is required.
Be specific and think broadly! The problem you see may be caused by something bigger. Trace the problem to where it actually started from—even if it's from the past or from an entirely different situation.
This field is required.
If you don't know when it actually started, tell us when you became aware of, or affected by it. The more the problem affects you, or somebody you know, the more you can understand the best way to solve it.
This field is required.
It’s easy to focus on people, but don’t forget the environment—water, animals, plants, or even the air. Remember, our Ziri Ezi value system sees everything as interconnected, so what affects nature will eventually affect us.
This field is required.
What do the people directly affected think about it? Do they even realise it's a problem? Are they trying to fix it, or do they feel stuck/helpless? Are there any misunderstandings of the problem that might be making things worse?
This field is required.

Bonus Questions

You could gain extra points if your answer to these optional questions sheds more light on your identified problem. Otherwise, you can skip and go on to the next section.

Has anyone from the outside stepped in to help? Like, has the government tried to do anything, or have other people tried to make things better?
Is there anyone or any group(s) you can think of, who may be benefiting from this problem, or even prolonging it / making it worse for their own gain?

Your Solution

Time to tell us your cool ideas to addressing this problem you've identified. Don't fill this section without reading the Submissions Guidelines for what we do NOT want. We are interested in realistic, practical solution that make sense, and can be carried out by YOU, or the people directly affected by the problem.

Keep it short! This is your chance to grab our attention and make us excited to keep reading.
This field is required.
Tell us more! What would it do? What would it look like? Would it be something to be used, seen, worn, built, etc.? Does it solve all or part of the problem, and how?
This field is required.
Be specific about how their lives will change for the better because of your solution. Don't forget nature—make the connection to how the environment will be improved by your solution. The positive impact doesn't have to happen immediately as long as it happens eventually, and can be sustained.
This field is required.
What skills will you (or people that you would like to collaborate with) need to bring your solution to life? We love ideas that involve the people most affected by the problem to be part of the solution, as they’ll help make it stronger and more lasting.
This field is required.
Think about the environment—will your idea harm it in any way? If you're creating a product or gadget, tell us how it would be made or powered, and where the materials would come from. We want to make sure that we solve problems for people without creating new ones for nature.
This field is required.

Bonus Questions

Another chance to earn extra points! But that's only if adds more to the questions already answered. Otherwise, skip to the next section.

If you had the right skills and resources, how long do you think it would take to get your idea developed? If your solution needs people to make big changes at first, think about how you can make it easier for them to adjust. This will help make sure they stick with it long enough to see the benefits.
How would you convince people (especially those affected) that your solution is valuable and get them to support it? Do you see your solution clashing with the cultural religious, or political views of the people? If so, how would you handle that?

Supporting Files

This section is optional! If there's more you want to say or show that our questions didn't cover, you can choose to upload as a file here.

You can also share files that show what the problem looks like, or explains your solution in more detail. For example, if your solution is a gadget, consider sharing a sketch; if it involves creative storytelling, consider sharing a draft synopsis.

Upload a maximum of three files to support your application. The maximum file size for each upload is 5MB. Acceptable formats are .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .pdf. .mp4, .mp3.
